The ShuttlePouch™ 95kPa specimen transport bags are independently tested by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, providing confidence and assurance that the pouch is a fully compliant solution for specimen transportation of UN3373 Biological Substance Category B.
The healthcare industry asked, ShuttlePouch delivered
shuttlepac designed the pouch to radically improve the user’s experience, reduce the cost, and reduce the plastic footprint for packing and shipping sample tubes. We listened to our customers’ issues when using a conventional 95kPa specimen transport bag, and the list was long:

ShuttlePouch™ 100% leak-proof compliant secondary packaging
- For all liquid samples, an absorbent material must be included with UN3373 secondary packaging.
- The absorbent needs to absorb the entire volume of liquid in each receptacle.
- The absorbent should be placed or wrapped between the primary receptacle(s) and the secondary packaging. This ensures that any breakage or release of liquid in transit will be absorbed and not reach the outer packaging.
- When multiple primary receptacles are placed in a single secondary packaging, they should be either individually wrapped or separated to prevent contact between them.
All leak-proof ShuttlePouches have the required absorbent built into the pouch. So, it negates the use of multiple absorbents or individual wrapping for each tube. If one of the tubes leaks or breaks when using a ShuttlePouch, only the leaked sample will need to be discarded.
Whether you use a Standard or a ShuttlePouch 95kPa neither the outer packaging nor the remaining samples in the package will be compromised. Thus reducing the need to repeat the whole set of samples, saving valuable time, money and keeping the risk of contamination to a minimum.
When to use a Standard ShuttlePouch™ or ShuttlePouch 95kPa
The requirement when sending diagnostic samples is that the primary receptacle or the secondary packaging shall be capable of withstanding, without leakage, an internal pressure of 95 kPa (0.95 bar).

The ShuttlePouch 95kPa specimen transport bag is independently certified by an ISO 17025 accredited lab. Hence, fulfilling the required 95Kpa pressure differential requirement for UN3373 biological substance Category B. A report and certification are available on request. So, if the primary receptacle/tube is not 95kPa compliant the ShuttlePouch 95kPa specimen transport bag must be used.
However, if the primary receptacle/tube can withstand the internal pressure of 95kPa, then the standard ShuttlePouch can be used.
ShuttlePouch™ provides a compliant leak-proof solution for secondary packaging. When sending UN3373 Biological Substance Category B samples by air, land, and sea, choose Standard or ShuttlePouch™ 95kPa specimen transport bags and be confident your packaging will arrive uncompromised, safe and intact.
